1. Hosting (Cloudflare)
The site is delivered through the network of Cloudflare, Inc. (USA). When you open a page, Cloudflare processes the technical data your browser sends (IP address, time, requested page, browser type) to deliver the site and to protect it against attacks. Cloudflare keeps these logs for a short time. Its servers are in Switzerland and worldwide, including the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. More: Cloudflare privacy policy.
2. Flags (Wikimedia Commons)
The flag images are loaded directly from the servers of Wikimedia Commons (Wikimedia Foundation, USA). To show them, your browser sends its IP address and the usual technical data to Wikimedia. More: Wikimedia privacy policy.
3. Storage in your browser
The site remembers your language in your browser (local storage) and keeps the current view in the page address (the part after “#”). This stays on your device and is never sent to us. You can delete it in your browser settings.
4. Data download
The CSV files under “Download the data” are made in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server.
5. E-mail
If you write to [email protected], Cloudflare Email Routing forwards the message to a Gmail inbox (Google, USA and Europe). We use your address and your message only to answer you and delete them when they are no longer needed.
6. Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) you can ask what data about you is processed, and have it corrected or deleted: write to [email protected]. You can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).
